About the Project

The Wall of Masks is an ambitious project to collect and catalog every unique Lucha Libre mask ever created. From the legendary masks of El Santo and Blue Demon to modern designs from Mexico, Japan, the USA, and beyond.

Using these thousands of individual mask photographs, we've created a massive digital mosaic - a single image composed of 18,241 tiles that, when printed at 1 inch per tile, would measure 12.0 feet wide by 7.8 feet tall.

The mosaic was created using AndreaMosaic, a specialized tool that analyzes each source image and arranges them to recreate a target image. The result is a 1.2 gigapixel masterpiece that you can zoom into to see every individual mask.
